News story: New World Record for Plasticine!

Mon, 13 September 2010

Flair Plc, in association with Evolution PR, is delighted to 'unofficially' announce news of yet another World Record success for the company, having surpassed its current Guinness World Record for the Longest Plasticine Structure by over 50% at the Vintage at Goodwood Festival.

Over the weekend of 13th, 14th and 15th of August the many thousands of visitors to Vintage at Goodwood Festival were able to witness and assist in the World Record attempt , contributing their very own piece to a 644 metre long Plasticine snake.

The previous record was set by Flair in August 2008 when a snake measuring a fearsome 426.5 metres was created by children at the Museum of Childhood but the team had their sights on beating this record by around 100m. The visitors to Vintage at Goodwood, however, had more ambitious ideas and surpassed the record by over 210 metres!

The final measurement was taken at 5.pm on Sunday the 15th by official adjudicator Venora Bennet, author and award winning journalist.

Catherine Scott, Product Manager for Plasticine commented: “We would like to thank everyone involved in this record attempt. All that remains is for the record to be adjudicated by Guinness and proclaimed official. The great thing about Plasticine is that everyone and anybody can enjoy modelling with it, which is certainly what they did at the Vintage at Goodwood weekend. Some really artistic pieces of snake were created and the final snake was truly colossal.”

The World Record attempt is just part of Flair’s ongoing Plasticine activity this year. For more information call 0208 643 0320.
